Hawaii - Day 1 (Big Island)

Last night Etsuko and I caught an overnight flight from Tokyo to Hawaii to begin our week long vacation. We have 5 days on the Big Island and another two on O'ahu.

Clouds at 30,000 feet

Honolulu International Airport

We transferred in Honolulu to a local flight heading to the Big Island.

The Rental

Our rental car. It's a compact but in typical American style, it's larger than most mid-sized cars. It has the trim level of a cheap compact though.

Pololu Coastline

For our first day we took a short drive to chech out some of the scenic northern coastline.

King Kamehameha I

A statue to King Kamehameha, the Hawaiian Island conqueror that formally established the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1810.
